At Calvary Nursery School, we prioritize an intimate learning environment, limiting our classrooms to a teacher-to-student ratio of 1:5 in our youngest classroom and 1:8 with older children. Each class is led by a dedicated head teacher, supported by one to two assistant teachers, ensuring personalized attention for every child. Our age-structured classes follow an inquiry-based curriculum, allowing us to tailor learning experiences to each child's unique interests and developmental needs while fostering age-appropriate skill-building.

Our Programs

Preschool

Schedule: Monday - Friday: 8:30a - 12:00p

Our lower school classrooms have a strong focus on social-emotional learning, school readiness, and lots of play! Children work on building connections, navigating friendships, learning routines, and self-help skills. Our students are introduced to a variety of fine motor techniques, pre-literacy activities, and sensory experiences in a joyful and age-appropriate approach that reflects our Reggio Emilia and Montessori-inspired philosophy.

Pre-Kindergarten

Age Range: 4 years to 5 years
Schedule: Monday - Friday: 8:30a - 1:30p

In our upper school classrooms, students begin preparation for kindergarten through play, exploration, and inquiry-based curriculum. Children strengthen their fine motor skills, learn letters with our multi-sensory approach, build pre-math concepts, gain confidence, and nurture a sense of curiosity. Pre-K families are supported throughout the entire kindergarten admissions process and Calvary Nursery School graduates are represented at a variety of independent, parochial, and public schools in the San Francisco Bay Area.
